A while ago I read this piece of wisdom in The Complete Idiot's Guide to Magic Tricks, written by Tom Ogden, who knows his way around a deck of cards:
Knowing how the tricks work does not make you a magician.
Performing the tricks makes you a magician.
So if anybody is wondering why I got back into the grind again, blame it on Tom Ogden.
